1. About PJHPS

The Pakistan Journal of Herbal & Pharmaceutical Sciences (PJHPS) is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing the scientific, clinical, and academic standing of herbal and Unani therapeutics. PJHPS publishes original research, clinical studies, and reviews that bridge traditional medicine with contemporary pharmaceutical science, in support of evidence-based practice, regulatory registration, and university-industry collaboration.

2. Aims and Scope

PJHPS welcomes submissions across the full spectrum of herbal, Unani, and pharmaceutical sciences, including but not limited to:

  • Phytochemistry and natural product isolation, characterisation, and standardisation
  • Pharmacology and toxicology of herbal and Unani formulations
  • Clinical and pre-clinical studies on herbal/Unani therapeutics, including patient outcome data
  • Formulation development, quality control, and GMP/DRAP regulatory science
  • Diabetes (Type 2), Hepatitis C, hyperuricemia, jaundice, lipid and cardiovascular health, appetite and metabolic disorders, obesity, platelet disorders, sinusitis, and related therapeutic areas
  • Ethnopharmacology, traditional knowledge systems, and their scientific validation

Studies involving animals must confirm compliance with institutional and national guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals.

4.3 Plagiarism and Originality

Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. All submissions are screened using similarity-detection software prior to peer review. Manuscripts exceeding acceptable similarity thresholds, or found to contain plagiarised, fabricated, or falsified content, will be rejected, and repeat offences may result in a ban on future submissions.

8. Peer Review Process

PJHPS operates a double-blind peer review process. Submissions are first assessed by the Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor for scope, originality, and basic quality.
