Building the Next Generation of Herbal Health Practitioners

At the Pakistan Journal of Herbal and Pharmaceutical Sciences (PJHPS), we believe that the future of evidence-based herbal medicine will be written by those who are training for it today. Our University Association Programme is a structured collaboration between PJHPS, Awami Laboratories, and leading public sector universities across Pakistan — bringing pharmacy and medical students into active, published research from day one of their careers.

Why We Partner with Universities

Pakistan is facing a quiet epidemic. Diabetes, Hepatitis C, high uric acid, obesity, lipid disorders, and liver conditions are no longer rare — they are widespread, growing, and placing an enormous burden on public health infrastructure. Yet the conviction driving our work is simple: these are not lifelong diseases. They can be reversed through scientifically validated herbal treatment — and that story deserves to be told through rigorous, published evidence.

Universities are where that evidence gets built. When a final-year pharmacy student becomes a data contributor, a case documenter, or a patient liaison — they do not just learn research; they become agents of a genuine paradigm shift in how Pakistan approaches chronic disease management.

What the Partnership Looks Like

Our university programme is structured around three pillars:

1. Engagement & Awareness
We conduct dedicated lectures at each partner university for final-year pharmacy students. These sessions cover:

• The epidemiology of our focus disease areas in Pakistan and globally
• The science and conviction behind herbal pharmaceutical solutions registered with DRAP
• How pharmacists can move beyond dispensing and become active contributors to patient outcomes — a true Tabeeb
• An introduction to the AskTabeeb.com platform and how student referrals work

2. Active Research Participation
Students and faculty collaborate with our clinical team on small, focused studies in disease areas where clear bioclinical markers exist — making outcomes measurable, verifiable, and publishable. Research output is submitted to and published in PJHPS, giving students a credible academic publication before they graduate.

3. The Referral & Patient Liaison Network
Partner university students are issued referral codes through their deans and departmental heads. Using these codes, students can register patients on AskTabeeb.com — connecting real patients with herbal consultations, clinical guidance, and follow-up report tracking. This creates a controlled, capacity-matched pipeline that grows responsibly as more students join the network.
